Kevin Rudd has 'seen' the Coalition's pledge of $4 billion for pensioners, carers and the disabled, and 'raised' an extra $140 million funding.

Rudd's pitch for the grey vote will see Labor increase the telephone allowance for pensioners from $88 to $132 and would see allowances to pensioners paid quarterly, rather than every six months as per the Government's plan.

Is this me-toosim? Not according to Mr Rudd. "What is important here is enhancing the support for senior Australians, those suffering disabilities and those on carer's pensions," he said.
